Jill and I took a trip into Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood to check out the Red Brick Craft Distillery. They have some fantastic small batch whiskey and rum and we were excited to try their birch spirit called “From the Woods.” This stuff is nothing we’ve ever tasted and is absolutely delicious. We loved it. And it is in very short supply – get to the distillery now if you want some in the next 9 months. Red Brick Craft Distillery is going to be one to watch!
We also visited the Reading Terminal Market downtown Philadelphia. It has some of my favorite donuts in the world there at a stand called Beiler’s Bakery. They’re soft and fresh and fried all day. I love the apple and peach fritters above anything else. Believe me when I say that I can eat a dozen of them! Alas, we couldn’t get the donuts this trip, but we did pick up a cake to celebrate Jill’s parents’ anniversary and New Year’s Eve! And we were able to get Jill’s favorite, lobster mac and cheese!
This is the first of what will hopefully be many videos on the site.

A side note:
I’m pretty new to video recording and I’m learning a lot. One thing I learned here was to be careful of interference with an external mic. My Rode Videomicro picked up some interference from my phone’s wifi and it led to some tough audio in the barrel room of Red Brick Craft Distillery, so I wanted to apologize for that. I promise it won’t be there in the future.
